About Me

I have been interested in photography since I got my first camera at age 9. The camera was a simple Kodak Instamatic, but it was magic for me. It was a simple point and shoot that took film cartridges, but it allowed me to capture and record the world around me. Later I took a film photography class in college where I got my Canon AE-1. Life took over and photography fell into the background as an occasional hobby.

During the pandemic, with more free time on my hands, I started to revisit the hobby in earnest and it’s become a passion. I’ve since started shooting with a mirrorless digital Nikon, but I still maintain and shoot the Canon. I’ve also added an old Kodak Jiffy camera that shoots 620 film (which isn’t manufactured reliably anymore) that will also take 120 film with a little help, and a Holga 120. Each camera is different and gives images with varied styles and a different feel, which is fascinating.

I was born in the city but I have always loved nature and the outdoors. Photography lets me bring the wonder and beauty of the world back home. I walk every day, exploring local neighborhoods and parks. I also travel within California, Mexico and sometimes farther afield. Most of my photography is from these journeys, capturing a vision of the world around me and being present within our beautiful environment.

I am also a lifelong student of art and photography. I don’t want to limit myself to a narrow creative specialty within photography. I experiment with different techniques and cameras and each project is an exciting journey of discovery. I hope these images bring you the joy and awe that they bring to me. Thank you for visiting.
